Lawsuits claims the release of a corn variety in the United States, before China approved it, was reckless

The lawsuit alleges that Syngenta’s move to commercialize its Viptera brand, before it was approved by China, cost farmers billions of dollars in revenue through hurt relationships and a decrease in the commodity price. Syngenta will argue that it sold a legal product, approved by many trade partners and followed standard marketing practices.
The trial is taking place in Kansas City, KS, and involves four farmers who are representing 7,300 from across the state. The trial is being seen as a practice or template to see how the thousands of other cases will play out.
