Fire Destroys Grain Elevator in Primghar, IA

KIWA radioreportedon a fire at Nicholson & Edwards Grain in Primghar, IA, that burnt the grain elevator at the site to the ground. Nine local fire departments responded to the fire and used 350,000 gallons of water trying to put out the blaze, but due to the height of the building, along with it being constructed of wood with steel siding, firefighters had difficulties getting water to the fire. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but the damages are estimated to have exceeded $1 million. No one was injured in the fire.
