Grain dust collection bin undergoing maintenance started on fire
Firefighters from two departments responded to a fire in a large piece of equipment at the Perdue mill north of Washington, IN, reports theWashington Times Herald.
"They had a grain dust collection bin that was undergoing maintenance," Washington Township Fire Chief Tony Wichman told the Times Herald. "There was some kind of spark and that set the collected dust inside on fire."
The fire was limited to the bin but officials say they had to take it apart to get to all of the fire. Firefighters poured on more than 6,000 gallons of water. Officials estimate that the fire, even though limited to the bin, still did thousands of dollars in damage.
