Dependents of hourly employees are eligible to receive up to $5,000 through new program
Six high school and college students from across the U.S. Midwest and Canada each will receive a $5,000 scholarship funded byScoular’sCEO and his wife.
On Monday, Scoular announced the inaugural recipients of thePaul & Julie Maass Scholarship.Children and/or dependents of Scoular’s andPetsource by Scoular’s hourly employees were eligible to apply.
Selection was based upon a variety of factors, including need, leadership in academics and the community, and grade point average, with preference to those demonstrating compassion and community service.
Among the recipients: speech champions, honor band and honor choir members, volunteer firefighters and members of Canada’s Cadet program.
“These six young leaders embody the Scoular values of compassion and perseverance – congratulations to them and to their parents,” Paul Maass said.
“My wife, Julie, and I are thrilled to support our employees by providing these scholarships, and we look forward to seeing great things from these students in the future.”

The scholarships will assist in funding tuition, books and certain other expenses incurred at a four-year accredited university or two-year accredited institutions of higher learning.
