Settlement Reached in Nebraska Grain Elevator Explosion

City receives $75,000 to reimburse funds spent on response to incident

The city of South Sioux City, NE, has reached a $75,000 settlement of a lawsuit seeking reimbursement of funds the city spent responding to a2018 grain elevator explosion at Andersen Farms Inc.

The agreement was reached last month during a mediation session.

The city in February sued Andersen Farms Inc., Andersen Family Farms, Bryce Andersen and Luanne Andersen, seeking payment of a $120,034 invoice it sent for payment of emergency expenses the city incurred in response to the May 29, 2018, explosion.
