A structural issue involving a large grain bin discovered last Thursday prompted staff atFarmers Elevator and Exchange Companyin Monroe City, MO, to immediately work to stabilize the structure, reportsKHQA．
"The situation with these grain bins can go from good to bad very quickly with little to no warning, so as an abundance of caution we isolated the area," Adam Grove, general manager Farmers Elevator and Exchange Company, toldKHQA．“所以if something were to happen, no one would have been hurt."
Police notified people living inside the hazardous area and give them the option of evacuating as a precautionary measure.
Although the grain bin has structural issues, police said there were no signs indicating an immediate threat of collapse or imminent failure of the supports.
