A 75-year-old Basco, IL, man was found dead in a grain bin in Sutter shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, reports thePen City Current.
Emergency crews said Calvin Baumann, 75, had been trying to clear a blockage in the bin’sunloading augerand was now trapped.
Fire personnel cut relief holes in the sides of the bin and began removing grain with the help of farmers, deputies and EMS staff.
After removing a substantial amount of grain, Baumann was found and could not be resuscitated.
