
The timesunionreportedon the ongoing case against a former Cargill manager Diane L. Backis, who during her time at their Albany, NY, grain facility embezzled $3.1 million. Backis admitted to intercepting customer payments and depositing them into a personal account, mail fraud and filing a false tax return. In all, Backis cost Cargill at least an estimated $25 million and is facing up to eight years and one month in prison.
