Russia's Deputy PM Floats Idea of 'Grain OPEC'

Organization would ensure stability of grain market, coordinate price policy and solve world hunger problems

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeyev, who is in charge of agriculture, has proposed the creation of a grain organization along the lines of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Interfax news agency reported on Saturday, citing his office.

According toReuters, the world’s leading grain exporters could form the OPEC-like group, Gordeyev said at a meeting with German Agriculture Minister Julia Kloeckner in Cologne on Saturday, Interfax reported.
