Ukraine: Corn and flour in short supply

Country reports the pace of grain exports is 31.43% lower this period than last year.

Ukraine exported 22.76 million tons of grain crops from the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (July to June) and until January 2, the country'sMinistry of Agrarian Policyreported.

According to the agency, more than half (55.5%) of the total supply is corn —12.64 million tons, another 8.41 million tons of wheat (36.9%) and 1.63 million tons of barley (7.1%).

The pace of grain exports since the beginning of the current marketing year (MY) is 31.43% lower than in the same period last MY (from July 1, 2021 to January 2, 2022, 33.2 million tons were exported).

  • 1.63 million tons of barley (3.2 times less)
  • 12,500 tons of rye (9.7 times less)
  • 12.64 million tons of corn (9.5% more)
  • 69,000 tons of flour (+15.9%)

The average daily export rate for the reporting period of December 21 – January 2 increased by 46.1% compared to the prior period of December 14-21.

According toUkrainian News, taking into account average prices on the world food market, Ukraine expects to receive at least USD $20 billion from this year's grain exports.
