According to the report, United Airlines recently conducted a test flight using fuel made of sugar water and corn.

The fuel, calledVirentand generated in a lab in Madison, WI, burns 35% to 70% cleaner than regular fuel.

According to Virent, nothing needs to change on the plane or automobile to use the fuel.

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby sees this as his organization’s way of leading the global fight against climate change.
