Cargill soybean processing project on hold

A Cargill spokesperson toldBrownfieldthe hold is due to many shifting market dynamics.

In May 2022,Cargillunveiled plans to build a new soybean processing facility located in Pemiscot County, Missouri, near Hayti and Caruthersville to support growing domestic and global demand for oilseeds.

The facility was designed to be the first of its for southeast Missouri, said Cargill, with an annual production capacity of 62 million bushels of soybeans.

The new facility was expected to break ground in 2023 and be operational by 2026. It was going to add 45 full-time positions to the region when complete.

In 2021, Cargillannounceda series of projects across North America including significant improvements to its soybean crush facility in Sidney, Ohio, and construction of anew canola processing facility雷吉娜,萨斯喀彻温省。

Cargill has had a presence in Missouri since 1936 and currently operates across 11 locations in the state and employees nearly 1,200 people.
