GEAPS/K-State Offer Four Grain Operations Courses in April

Online courses run from April 24 – May 26, and registration closes Tuesday, April 18

Registration is now open for four grain operations courses from the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and Kansas State University (K-State) Distance Education Program. These online courses run fromApril 24 – May 26, and registration closes Tuesday, April 18. Courses are open to anyone, even if they are not a GEAPS member or a student enrolled at K-State. Online registration and more information on individual courses are available on theGEAPS/K-State Distance Education Program website.

GEAPS 511: Grain Facilities Planning and Design II

This advanced course provides a practical, real-world foundation for operations professionals responsible for helping plan and design grain facilities.Lectures cover site selection, rail planning, safety, security, roofing, storage and other considerations. Some lectures revisit topics fromGEAPS 510: Facilities Planning and Design Iin more depth.

GEAPS 525: Management of Insect Pests in Stored Grain

学员将学习预防和的技能manage insect infestations using practical chemical and nonchemical methods. Lessons chronicle the most common types of insects associated with stored grain; pest management concepts including preventive and responsive tactics; and proper use of protectants and fumigants.

GEAPS 541: Developing an Effective Safety Culture

Learntheconcept of safety cultures, how to evaluate a company and how safety affects the bottom line. Lectures teach participants toassess the return on investment for safety cultures, determine the components of strong safety cultures and provide tools for reshaping attitudes and promoting employee buy-in.

GEAPS 555: Advanced and Preventative Maintenance for Grain Facilities: Conveyance Equipment

Experienced employees who deal with conveyance equipment can benefit from this advanced course. Lessons cover developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs, repair and upkeep for bucket elevators and conveyers, conveyance equipment lubrication and effective hazard monitoring.
