USDA's August 30 bulletin reported major rainfall beginning in northern Texas before moving into the Southeast
Hardest hit areas reported 10-15 inches, resulting in extensive flooding in the Mississippi Delta
Little to no rain reported in The Plains States, Midwest, and Tennessee Valley
- Wheat harvest continues to advance with favorable conditions
- 50% of spring wheat acres are harvested, 21 points behind the five year average
- 68% are in good to excellent condition, 57 points above last year
- Barley acres are 62% harvested, 14 points behind the five-year average
- 56% are in good to excellent condition, 33 points above last year
- Oat acres are 80% harvested, seven points behind the five-year average
- Corn maturity advances in many parts of the country
- 86% of corn acres are in the dough stage, two points behind the five-year average
- 54% of corn are in good to excellent condition, six points behind last year
