GPC acquires specialty flour milling facility

Grain Processing Corp., part of KENT, will use Oskaloosa, Iowa, operation to grow its plant-based, clean-label market.

Grain Processing Corp.(GPC), part of theKENT Corp.family of companies headquartered in Muscatine, Iowa, has acquired a flour manufacturing and warehouse facility in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Building upon the success of itssoy and chickpea milling operationsin Grinnell, Iowa, the company said the acquisition further deepens its longstanding history of offering innovative, high-quality, plant-based ingredients.

"As we pursue our vision to continue expanding to meet the desires and dietary requirements of a consistently growing world population, I am excited to be adding this facility to our footprint," said Jimmy Kent, president of GPC. "We will better leverage our soy and chickpea flour production capabilities, while expanding our value-added milling business further."

The 64,000 -square-foot. production and seed cleaning facility sits on 35 acres, allowing for future growth, product offering diversification and strategic vertical integration within other nearby KENT businesses.

The GPC Oskaloosa milling operation will facilitate future growth in the plant-based, clean-label market categories.

GPC's primary products include high-purity alcohols, corn starches, maltodextrins and corn syrup solids. GPC sells to customers that use GPC ingredients for beverage alcohol, food products, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and industrial starch applications.

In July 2022, the company acquiredNatural Products, Inc.(NPI), based in Grinnell, Iowa, a manufacturer of full fat soy ingredients made from non-GMO or certified organic soybeans. In addition to soybeans, NPI also processes other pulses such as chickpeas.
